Cedar Key, Fla. - The strength of a community depends on its health, and its health partially depends on an adequate blood supply. Cedar Key Community invites residents to do their part to ensure a safe and adequate blood supply for the community during the holidays when they team up with LifeSouth Community Blood Centers to host a blood drive on Friday, December 7. Stop by the bloodmobile at the City Hall between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. and make a contribution that can save up to three lives in local hospitals. Cedar Key High School will host a blood drive from 9 a.m. to Noon on December 7. Student donors are part of a High School Blood Drive Challenge with area high schools. Donors are asked to eat a healthy meal, particularly breakfast, and drink plenty of fluids before donating. All donors will receive a recognition item will be entered in a drawing to win an iPad Mini. Drawing for the iPad Mini will take place on December 24. Student donors also receive community service hours. Donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh 110 pounds or more, and show a valid photo I.D. at the time of donation.
