"Downtown Cedar Key" Exhibit Opens at Arts Center

Maureen Landress

Choosing the winners from the works submitted for the annual "Downtown Cedar Key" juried exhibit was a real challenge for Judge Carol Frost. The works exhibited represented a wide spectrum of styles, mediums and techniques. There were pastels, acrylics, watercolors, pottery, woven baskets and sculpture. The entries were judged on their representation of the theme, as well as the quality of the work.

The winning artworks were:

Second Place – Joy Witman – Christi's Guest House

Third Place – Jane Ramsey – At the Canal

Also on display, but not part of the "Downtown" exhibit, were a number of elegantly simple charcoal sketches by Cathy Christie. Ms. Christie, who used to reside in Cedar Key, has been a long time benefactor of the Arts Center.
