Cedar Key Arts Center

Basketry and mosaics will be the focus of a collaborative exhibit at the Cedar Key Arts Center from November 4 through 27. Chris Rexroat, who has been creating and exhibiting baskets for 15 years in North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida, will be joined by mosaic artist Marsha Schwartz in a show that will highlight their current work as well as the work of 40 of their students.

Marsha has been breaking tiles and pottery in order to create mosaics for 10 years, and her art work has been exhibited at the Frank Miele Gallery, Madison Ave., New York City. Chris, who has been teaching basketry in Cedar Key for 7 years, recently had a solo show at the Toe River Arts Council Gallery in Burnsville, NC. She is mostly self-taught but attended Penland and Arrowmont School of Crafts in North Carolina and Tennessee respectively.

An opening reception will take place at Saturday, November 4 at 5 p.m. The Cedar Key Arts Center is located at 457 2nd Street. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The public is invited to the opening and show.
