Arts Center Offers Summer Programs for Children K-12

Cedar Key Arts Center

Jemima Cahours, student at Cedar Key School, showed and discussed her art work at Cedar Key Arts Center. Jemima stated, "Art is such a fantastic way for teens to express themselves. There is not much to do in Cedar Key so I am glad there are going to be summer art programs for kids to attend."

Cedar Key Arts Center Announces Dates for Summer Programs

The Cedar Key Arts Center will be sponsoring three fantastic summer art programs especially for children and teens in July.

Children who have completed kindergarten through grade four will be eligible to attend the Children`s Art Program (CAP). Dates for this program are Monday through Thursday, July 11-14 and July 18-21. The program will run from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. daily and will be held at the Cedar Key School. Cost for this program is $10 per week for each four day session. Teachers for the camp will be Sue Reichert with Donna Bushnell assisting for the younger children and Debbie Manansala with Mary Bottenberg assisting for the older elementary students. This will be a wonderful opportunity for elementary age children to enjoy artistic experiences in a small group setting.

The Teen Art Program (TAP) will be held at the Cedar Key Arts Center from 6-9 pm on July 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29. Cost for the TAP will be $30 for all 10 dates or $5 per each session. Debbie Manansala will lead these art experiences including painting, along with Andrea Dennison teaching jewelry, Amy Gerhardt making pottery tiles, and Connie Nelson leading a recycled art project. The Teen Art Program is for students who have completed fifth grade through high school.

The third summer art opportunity is for the more serious art student and is called Summer Art Camp. In these art camps an instructor will teach three classes on a selected art topic. Each Art Camp will cost $25 per three day camp and will be held at the Cedar Key Arts Center from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

PHOTOGRAPHY Art Camp will be lead by Michelle Pearson on July 6, 7, 8 (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday).
CLAY MASKS will be taught by Amy Gerhardt on July 11, 12, 13 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday).
SILK PAINTING will be led by Virginia Stevenson on July 18, 20, 22 (Monday, Wednesday, Friday).
Art Camp is an outstanding opportunity to learn from the experts at a very minimal cost. Adults, as well as serious students, are welcome at the art camps.

There will be minimum and maximum numbers for participation in these art activities so check your calendar and get your registration forms from Debbie Manansala at Cedar Key School or from the Cedar Key Arts Center. Come and enjoy an Artful Summer at the Cedar Key Arts Center!
