Feigin Announces Candidacy for City Commission

ANNOUNCEMENT

David Feigin:

I came to Cedar Key three days after my retirement from the United States Coast Guard in 2004 to learn the aquaculture business. After clam farming for 5 years I was forced to stop due to health reasons, but was then able to open Island Pizzeria with my wife Cris. We have, like others, gone through the good and bad and wish to thank everyone who has embraced us.

We have gone through the summer of "The Spill." It still lurks at us. I have worked with the Levy County Emergency Management Center alongside our County Commissioners and Mr. O`Neal. Our plans have improved considerably from what was in place. Our community should feel a bit more at ease should the worst happen.

However, we must continue to improve our Coastal Protection Plan as well as other areas within our small town. Like so many other cities, spending has cast a blanket over us. Cuts have been made, but more must be done. Thousands of dollars leave our city each year.

We could retain these funds through a well executed plan which in the end will generate income for our City, help us get out from under the blanket and possibly create jobs.

I welcome all ideas, I will not subscribe to the "traditional" party doctrines. The only party I represent are the people of Cedar Key. I learned in my career to embrace all ideas, work with others to effectively achieve a positive outcome. We have many challenges ahead, some at the local level, and others with the county. Together we can achieve positive outcomes.

As a result of my commitment to Cedar Key, I am announcing my candidacy for City Commission Seat #3. I urge all of you to vote to continue making Cedar Key the special place that we know.
