The Community Redevelopment Agency meeting of April 5 had four regular business items on the agenda. All were dealt with rapidly and without formal action. A previously scheduled workshop on the long delayed proposed sign ordinance was canceled at the request of Commissioner Scott Dennison who did not attend the April 5 meeting.


CRA Director Greg Lang gave a concise report on the Phase II Streets and Utilities project. He said that Second Street utilities lines will be installed over the next four weeks. Preparation for paving and paving will follow during the ensuing four weeks. Smaller projects will proceed in Kiss-me-Quick starting May 1 and on Whiddon Avenue as soon as school vacation starts June 13.


There have been citizen comments on the punctuality and grace of the contractor`s crews.


Lang also indicated that a meeting with executives from the Sun Trust Bank have resulted in an agreement regarding the payment schedule for the loan that Cedar Key has with Sun Trust. He also commented on problems on release of Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant funds pledged by the State. New appointees in Florida`s government will be contacted by Mayor Pat O`Neal in the near future in hopes of getting the funds released.


David Coffey, who has served as the CRA attorney for several years, notified the CRA Board of his resignation recently. After discussion of the methods of finding a replacement, Holly Blumenthal, who has served as Mr. Coffey`s assistant for about four years, will be in place for the remainder of the contract.
