THE GREAT SUWANNEE RIVER CLEANUP

THE GREAT SUWANNEE RIVER CLEANUP

Jay Bushnell

Spearheaded by the Current Problems Organization, the Great Suwannee River Cleanup is off and running! On Saturday December 1st, starting at 10:00 AM from three locations, Camp Azalea/Yellow Jacket, Fowler`s Bluff and the Town of Suwannee, the Friends and staff of the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge with the help of other organizations will complete the River Cleanup.

Mark your calendar and spread the word to anyone who would like to join the cleanup.

There are jobs for folks to work on land at the staging areas to pass out materials and to weigh trash collected. Folks will be ferried to different spots along the river to collect trash. If you do have a boat whether large or small that you can bring, let us know.

To participate, please contact Ranger Pam Darty 352-493-0238 ex. 223. For planning, we need a rough count of who will participate. The Friends Group will provide water and snacks. Last years effort was not only a fun day but a very successful day.
