Sign Thefts - Fear of the Opposition?

Sign Thefts - Fear of the Opposition?

Editorial

Several political signs have been stolen in the past few days. Stealing political signs is petty, illegal and most of all, the act of a coward. Whoever is stealing those signs must fear the opposition. The thefts occur at night, the cover of cowardly acts. The thefts precipitate similar action by the opposition, and the whole political process is thereby tarnished.

One victim of sign theft replaced the sign with one that says, "Our Sign Was Stolen, We Still Support (Our Candidate.") No need to identify the candidate, this is not a partisan issue. The thief obviously fears a fair fight. The thief brings dishonor on himself and his party.

To discourage petty, illegal and cowardly sign thefts:

1. Post your signs in an inaccessible place.

2. Replace your stolen signs with ones that remind fair people that one was stolen.

3. Write a letter to the editor or on Speak Out documenting the theft.

(Editor`s Note - Signs for BOTH political parties are being swiped from yards and roadways here in Cedar Key and all around the country.)
