Editorial: Cedar Key News Annual Meeting March 29

Editor

May 2008 will mark the beginning of Cedar Key News' sixth year of publication. We began publishing local news online in May 2002. Two years later we began a biweekly print edition, available for those people that did not have ready access to an online computer.

As at the start, Cedar Key News is produced by volunteer reporters and columnists. We are a non-profit membership organization, guided by a seven-member board of directors. Surplus income is used for such local causes as scholarships for Cedar Key School graduates, political forums, support of festivals and more. We encourage citizens to join our organization.

The annual meeting of the general membership of Cedar Key News, Inc will be held March 29, 2008, at 6:00 p.m. at 12810 Jernigan Ave, Cedar Key. A clam bake will precede the formal business meeting at which the 2008 Board of Directors will be elected.

The members of the current Board of Directors are Sarah Campbell, Linda Dale, Judy Duvall, Maurice Healy, Jim Hoy and Molly Jubitz. Nominations for the Board of Directors can be made to the Nominating Committee, namely Maurice Healy and Linda Dale. Prospective members can find membership applications in the March 6 and March 20 editions of our print newspapers. We welcome new members, both readers of the print editions as well as the many online readers.
