Cedar Key voters will elect members to the City Commission on May 6, 2003. Seven people have offered their services to the community, seven competing for four open seats. Three men, Heath Davis, Pat Hibbits and Jim Stanfield oppose each other in the race for the seat vacated by Roy Sills. J.Q. Hodges and Sue Colson are opponents for the seat held by Mr. Hodges. Ken Daniel and Cecil Quates are running unopposed for the two remaining seats. Informed voters are as important to good government as good candidates. In this cozy community voters may buttonhole candidates on the street. Voters may also compare the published candidates` answers to the questionnaires provided by Cedar Key News. Perhaps best of all, voters can see how the candidates respond to each other's views and how they work together, at the Cedar Key News Candidates Forum at the Lions Club, Friday, April 25 from 7 to 9 PM. The Candidates Forum promises to gnaw on several bones of contention. Choose from: Marina Parking Problems Plantation and Andrews Development Plans Police Complaints and Commendations Animal Control by Levy County Improving Cedar Key Festival Planning Annexation of Island Properties. Immediately following the Candidates Forum, the members of Cedar Key News will hold its annual membership meeting and vote for a Board of Directors. You may join or renew your membership in this non-profit news group the evening of April 25. Please plan to attend and participate. |
