Introducing Our Editor

Robin McClary

Hello! My name is Robin McClary and I am the editor of the Cedar Key News Online. First, I think I should say something about my experience, so that you can see that I am either superbly equipped or infinitely unqualified for this post—or something in between.

In my family, with roots in East Tennessee, it was sinful not to have a job. So, I have had many of them, from unloading boxcars to being an airline pilot for Eastern Airlines. I have been a cop, bartender, apprentice embalmer, scuba instructor and a Paramedic. I served as an enlisted man in the US Naval Air Reserve and the Florida National Guard during the quiet time between Korea and Viet Nam. I have a BA in Philosophy and English Literature from Georgia State University. I can cook red cabbage and play the zither. I've run a bunch of 10K road races and two Marathons. Mostly I finished dead last. Years of self-abuse produced many runners' highs, a bum knee and a surgically fused spine. I have a book of poetry in print, with another in the works. I have published several gorilla Newsletters including the EMS Screamer at Grady Hospital in Atlanta.
So much for the horn tooting. . . .
