Introducing Our Editor | Introducing Our EditorRobin McClary Hello! My name is Robin McClary and I am the editor of the Cedar Key News Online. First, I think I should say something about my experience, so that you can see that I am either superbly equipped or infinitely unqualified for this post—or something in between. In my family, with roots in East Tennessee, it was sinful not to have a job. So, I have had many of them, from unloading boxcars to being an airline pilot for Eastern Airlines. I have been a cop, bartender, apprentice embalmer, scuba instructor and a Paramedic. I served as an enlisted man in the US Naval Air Reserve and the Florida National Guard during the quiet time between Korea and Viet Nam. I have a BA in Philosophy and English Literature from Georgia State University. I can cook red cabbage and play the zither. I've run a bunch of 10K road races and two Marathons. Mostly I finished dead last. Years of self-abuse produced many runners' highs, a bum knee and a surgically fused spine. I have a book of poetry in print, with another in the works. I have published several gorilla Newsletters including the EMS Screamer at Grady Hospital in Atlanta. So much for the horn tooting. . . . In a free society—be you Democrat, Republican, Libertarian or whatever—information is the most important thing that all of us can possess. We hope to provide you with that information as quickly as possible, concentrating on the political scene in our local area. We will try to give you the best information we can about the activities of the Cedar Key City Commission and Levy County governments. We urge everyone to become involved in the political process. We will publish our newspaper on the Internet, free for the looking, funded by our advertising. This means that it is important that you support our advertisers with your business. Welcome to our Newspaper. Let us know if we are doing a good job. |
