01 October 1852 - Augustus Steele deposited in the United States General Land Office at Newnansville a Certificate from the Register of the Land Office granting him 168 acres of land in Levy County. The Certificate, signed by President Millard Fillmore in the City of Washington, DC, was for a tract of land known as Depot Key (Atsena Otie) included in Permit 385 issued 14 April 1843. Steele served as the postmaster of the Town of Atsena Otie and also its mayor for a number of years.

10 July 1917 - The ladies of the town of Bronson presented the following petition to the Levy County Board of County Commissioners: We the ladies of Bronson desire to see our town beautified and believing that it should begin at the Courthouse, as that is the place where people from all over the County come some time of each year, and a place which every citizen of the County should feel proud, we respectfully ask that you have the grounds around the Courthouse cleaned and that you ask the aid of each of every County Officer in helping to keep such clean, by not throwing or allowing any papers or trash to be thrown on said grounds. We also desire to see the grounds about the Courthouse laid off in walks and flower beds, and sodded either in Bermuda or St. Augustine grass, and we promise our co-operation and aid in planting flowers and anything else which we can do to beautify said grounds. The petition was approved.
