How would you be able to manage a home if you were suddenly transported back a century or so in time? The household collectibles that give us pleasure as decorative objects today were the tools of the trade for the turn-of-the-century homemaker. Though the latest in household efficiency at the time, most of the domestic items represented hard work. For the next several weeks, we will run pictures of several household gadgets. See how many you can identify.

Last week`s gadget was identified as a "sausage gun" and was made of tin and wood. Used in the home or by local craftspeople, this machine used the corkscrew method to force sausage meat through the tip into casings.
