07 January 1953 - The Board of County Commissioners having received numerous complaints from in-state and out-of-state citizens regarding the imposition of fines and forfeitures for alleged traffic violations on the public roads of Levy County, passed a resolution banning "speed traps" within the limits of Levy County. The resolution stated "that if arrests are made predominantly in certain areas and on certain roads in such manner as to cause a reason to suspect that a `speed trap` is being operated by any law enforcement official, the Board shall cause a thorough investigation to be made."
