Images of Levy County, a collection of 600 photographs of the faces, places, and events of Levy County is now available. Lat fall, the members of the Levy County Genealogy & History Society asked for photographs to include in their photo memory project. People from all over with ties to Levy County dug out their old photographs and the result is a wonderful walk down memory lane which includes photos of Watermelon Queens, school pictures, weddings, family gatherings, and much more. The 600 photographs are on a CD which requires a computer with the capability to read a CD. The descriptions of the photographs and a complete index have been printed out and placed in a looseleaf notebook. The viewer can use the index to locate pictures of interest, go to the photo description to learn more about what is pictured, then select that photograph from the CD to view. Images of Levy County will go on sale for the first time Saturday, June 5, 2004, at the Society`s booth at the Chiefland Watermelon Festival. In addition, the Society will have for sale other publications about Levy County history and Search for Yesterday: A History of Levy County which is published by the Levy County Archives Committee. The cost of Images of Levy County is $25.00. Please add $5.00 to this cost for shipping and handling of mail orders.
