01 July 1864 - Company D of the Second Regiment, Florida Cavalry Volunteers (Union) was stationed at Cedar Key, Florida from July unto December, 1864. The company was stationed on board the steamer Magnolia off Saint Mark`s, Florida during January and February, 1865 and returned to station on Cedar Keys 09 March 1865. This company, with its regiment, has been stationed at Cedar Keys, Florida since last muster doing guard and picket duty until the surrender of General Lee`s Army. On 09 April 1865 the company was stationed at Levyville, Florida doing parole duty.

23 June 1904 - The Levy County Board of County Commissioners opened sealed bids for building the bridges advertised, Wacassassa and Long Pond.
After consideration it was on motion ordered that contracts for building a bridge across Wacassassa, near Fish Osteen`s place, be awarded to J.F. Smith for the sum of $65.00 and that contract for building a bridge across Long Pond near the Primitive Baptist Church, be awarded to Joe E. Perryman, for the sum of $43.50. 57 years ago
30 May 1945 - The Legislature of the State of Florida passed an act making the office of Supervisor of [Voter] Registration an elected rather than an appointed position with a four year term of office. In 1965 the Legislators changed the title of the office to Supervisor of Elections.
At the General Election held 05 November 1948, Levy County voters elected Mrs. Joe (Louise N.) Sale to the office, who served until 1968. Mrs. Sale was succeeded by Mrs. Artha Spillane in 1968, Mrs. Joy Smith in 1980, and current Supervisor of Elections, Mrs. Connie Asbell in 1992. The first woman to hold the office was Mrs. P.N. King who was appointed by the Governor in 1938. Mrs. King was succeeded by Mrs. J.O.. Beauchamp in 1942 who held the office until Mrs. Sale was elected.
