How Long Have You Lived in Cedar Key? 20 years

Why Did You Decide to Move to Cedar Key?

My husband and I were working in Gainesville. My parents bought a place in Rosewood. We decided to purchase a small place next to them. The town was small. We liked that.

What Do You Like Most About Living in Cedar Key?

It`s a small town and a great place to raise kids. Everyone knows everyone. People tend to look out for others. It`s a close-knit community. I believe there are a lot of good hearts here.

How Has Cedar Key Changed Over the Years?

It has become much more populated. The industry of the community has changed. Clams have taken the place of oysters. I believe the whole face of Cedar Key has changed. I do think the change was needed, but I hate to see development.

What Do You See as Cedar Key`s Biggest Problem?

I worry about the management of the growth. I don`t think that the new developments should be curtailed but I also don`t think the development should get to the point where it starts harming the clam industry and the natural beauty of Cedar Key. I would hate to see Cedar Key become like Key West.

If You Were Forced to Move From Cedar Key, Where Would You Move?

I don`t know. I would look for another small town. I would never live in a place much larger than Cedar Key.
