Special Meeting, March 18th A.D. 1942

At a Special Meeting of the Board of County Commissioners held in and for
Levy County, at the Court House in Bronson, on this the 18th day of March, A.D.
1942, with the following members, present, towit:


B.B. Rowland, Vice Chairman
Carl Wellman
Fred T. Davidson
W.S. Yearty


Commissioner Carl Wellman stated to the Board that he and Commissioner
Newsom had recently attended the County Commissioners Association Meeting at
Pensacola and while there, they had the privilege of hearing Army and Navy
Officials discuss the war situation and in his opinion the situation is serious
and that all United States industries need to be on the 24 hour day, seven days
a week work program in order to produce the necessary equipment to successfully
win the war.

Whereupon, Commissioner Wellman made a motion that the Chairman be
instructed to forward the following telegram to Senator Claude Pepper, Senator
Charles O Andrews, and Congressman R.A. Green. Same was seconded and
unanimously approved.


T E L E G R A M


The Board of County Commissioners of Levy County requests you to use your
influence to pass legislation to abolish the current basic forty hour week and
prevent strikes in war industries. Believe same necessary in order to speed up
our war efforts and show proper cooperation with our armed forces.
