Over 100 people lined up on Friday, March 2, for the free health screenings at the Annual Cedar Key Lions Club Health Fair at the Cedar Key Community Center. Staff and volunteers from area government, private, and non-profit health services providers were on hand for screenings and to explain services available as well as answer any questions. "The fair was well attended with about 100 people. The health provider participants were quite pleased with the turn out," said Eileen Senecal, RN, organizer of the annual community event. Participants took advantage of a comprehensive health check up, from oxygen and carbon monoxide level testing, glucose screening for diabetes, to blood pressure screening and blood lab tests including complete blood counts, comprehensive metabolic tests, a lipid panel and PSA level testing. A delicious and healthy brunch menu prepared by Lion Ken Young and volunteers was available for visitors, volunteers and participants. Those who had fasted all night for their blood tests especially appreciated it. All Photos are courtesy of Rory Brennan to see more of his photos of the health fair click : |
