Weekend Fishing Report

Weekend Fishing Report

Sarah Campbell

After several consecutive weeks of high winds and bad weather, Cedar Key finally had a pretty weekend. Many boating parties took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed out to sea for the Memorial Day weekend.

Trout and redfish were spotty at best. Several good fishermen and experienced guides struggled to bring in a decent catch of fish.

Offshore, the grouper were cooperating. Several guides and individual fishermen brought in decent catches. However, the fish still are settling in deeper water, 55-65 feet.

The most consistent catches have been shark. Cobias have started appearing but it is still too early in the season for the large bruisers.
