04 October 1852 - The following voters residing in the Clay Landing precinct cast their vote for Governor of the State of Florida: R.S. Tucker; Wm. L. Moore; E.A. Weeks; Thos. Weeks; H. Lancaster; Thos. Moore; John Rodgers; S. Bryant, Sr.; S. Thompson; Edw. Weeks; Robt. Bevan; Geo. H. Tresper; James H. Johnson; Aaron Smith; Jacob Moore; Thos. G. Ramsey; and S. Bryant, Jr. The Clerk of the Election was Aaron Smith and Inspectors were Geo. H. Tresper, James H. Johnson, and Silvester Bryant, Jr. Democratic candidate James E. Broome received 4,628 votes and Whig candidate George T. Ward received 4,336 votes.

30 November 1879 - Catherine Hobday, 83 years of age, died this day on Seahorse Key. Mrs. Hobday was the wife of Andrew D. Hobday, former light keeper of the Cedar Keys Light Station on Seahorse Key. Mrs. Hobday and her son, William A. Hobday, were Assistant Keepers of the Light Station. A native of New York State, Mrs. Hobday was buried in the cemetery located on the island.

20 September 1923 - The Williston High School opened this morning with a large enrollment. Everything points to a bright school year. The faculty: Prof. B.G. Langston, Principal; R.C. Moore; Miss Myrtle Ritchie; Miss Marie Yon;
Eugene Turner; Mrs. A.R. Williams; Miss Edna Brice; Miss Maude Harrison; Miss Lillie Hutchinson; Miss May McElroy; Miss Lucile Hardee; and Miss Inez Peterson.
