Genealogy Society Photo Memory Project

Toni Collins

The Levy County Genealogy and History Society is scanning photographs of Levy County`s people and places to be compiled into a CD. The CD will be available to the general public early next year.

Several Society members have set up at various locations throughout Levy County to scan your old photos and return them to you immediately.

Mrs. Dorothy Pullings of Morriston brought in a wonderful old photo of the St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Morriston taken about 1907. A gentleman from Chiefland brought in his remembrances of the logging industry in Gulf Hammock in the 1930s. Mrs. Maude Price of Inglis went through her old pictures and has shared with us a picture of her beautiful "Gibson girl" grandmother taken at the turn of the century.

We feel sure there must be other treasures out there just waiting to be discovered and shared. Wouldn`t you like to have your photographs preserved for posterity?

Society members will be scanning photographs at the following locations in the coming weeks: Thursday, October 2nd, Levy County Courthouse, Bronson, 1:00 to 5:00 PM; Saturday, October 11th, Williston Public Library, Williston, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM; and Tuesday, October 14th, Levy County Courthouse, 1:00 to 5:00 PM.

For more information or questions, please call:
Dix Stephens, 447-2977; Cindy Jo Ayers, 486-2312; or Toni Collins at 528-0102.
