Varsity Girls Steal the Show

Varsity Girls Steal the Show

The Cedar Key Varsity Girls blew away the competition at the meet held in Cedar Key on Wednesday afternoon. They scored first place as a team with thirty-one points. Second place was St. John`s with thirty-six points, third place was Williston with eighty-two points, and fourth place was The Rock of Gainesville with eighty-six points.

As the girls were preparing for the race Rita Borelli was asked, "So, are you going to try to win today, Rita?" She replied, "I hope so!" She did in fact win first place in the Varsity Girls race with a time of 22:28. Second place was Rose Myers beating her personal record with a new time of 22:34. Third place was also Cedar Key. Sam Beckham, also breaking her personal record, crossed the line third with a new time of 22:43.

Other top five scorers were K. Crouch and Cain of St. John`s.

The Varsity boys took fourth place as a team with a total of eighty-four points. Third place was Williston with fifty-nine points, second was barely taken by Ft. White with fifty-eight points and first place was St. John`s with forty-five points.

Top five scorers were 5) Adam Webster of Cedar Key with a time of 20:49, 4) K. Benson of St. John`s, 3)P. William of The Rock, 2) S. Lopez of Ft. White, 1) T. Reedes of Oak Hall with a time of 19:13.

The JV Boys and Girls did not have enough runners to place as a team. The JV Boys second place was Yankeetown with thirty points and Bradford took first with twenty-seven points. The JV Girls top three were 3) Williston with sixty-one points, 2) Bradford with fifty-four points, and
1) Yankeetown with an impressive eighteen points.

Top five for the JV Boys were 5) Tyler Hannah from Bradford, 4) Chris Underhill from Bradford, 3) Walles of Yankeetown, 2) Cody Temple of Bradford, 1) Travis Benindade of Yankeetown with a time of 22:01.

Top five for the JV Girls were 5) C. Bell of Williston, 4) Carrie Spain of Cedar Key, 3) Lindsay Edmonds of Cedar Key, 2) J. Ridenhour of Yankeetown, and 1) Amber Thompson of Yankeetown with a time of 29:24.

Congratulations to all the Shark runners on a very impressive meet.
