Sheriff`s Corner

Levy Co. Sheriff`s Office

Hello. Welcome to the Sheriff's Corner. This week's Corner will again talk about the VOICE program here at the Sheriff's Office. For those of you who don't know or haven't heard, we are blessed with a group of people who have joined with our agency to help us serve you better. They are called VOICE, which stands for Volunteer Observers Impacting Community Efforts.

Currently we have 26 (twenty-six) VOICE officers involved in a number of areas of the Sheriff's Office. These special people are, what I would judge to be, very qualified, very effective and very dedicated. They are volunteers. Recently, I've had the opportunity to get out and talk to some of you so I know we have many more of the same type of person I referred to above.

Some of the areas in which VOICE participates include crime scene investigation, neighborhood patrol, clerical and analytical work as well as victim contact and assistance. Some of our VOICE participants have actually started another career with us after learning about the job.

I think, though, that probably the most important thing that happens when you join VOICE is that you become part of a family whose whole focus is to take care of the people in Levy County. You learn about law enforcement, who we are and how we do the job.

If you are interested or would like to learn more, give me a call. I'd enjoy telling you about the program and how you can get involved. We need your help and would love to answer your questions. We also have applications here at the Sheriff's Office. Take care and have a great week. I hope to hear from you.
