Two Charged with Domestic Battery

Jim Hoy

Cedar Key Police report two cases of late night domestic disputes that resulted in two men being charged with domestic battery and additional charges. One case occurred on Dock Street and the other in the home of the victim.

Grant Christopher Phillips, 25, of Homosassa, Florida was observed by police officers as he attacked his victim Kimberly Michelle Riggs, 26, also of Homosassa. According to a police report, Phillips threw Ms. Riggs in the air and struck her after she fell to the street. Ms. Riggs told police that she and Phillips have been a couple for some time, but that she wanted out of the relationship. Phillips was arrested, charged with domestic battery and disorderly intoxication. He was taken to the Levy County Jail.

On May 9, Stephen W. McClintick, 40, of Cedar Key was arrested at 2:41 AM for domestic battery and violation of a no contact court order. His victim was Melanie Jahn McCumbers, 44, who gave the same address as McClintick had given. The details in the police arrest report are similar to those in a report filed earlier this year. McClintick was taken to the Levy County Jail.
