Sheriff`s Corner

Sheriff`s Corner

Levy Co. Sheriff`s Office

Hi everyone and welcome back to the Sheriff's Corner. We missed last week and that makes the first missed week in almost three years. We're sorry. We did think about it but knew that with Hurricane Frances' approach, the Corner would be the last thing you wanted to read about.

Hurricane Frances was devastating and we'll be repairing our lives for some time to come. We know that those of you who lost your home, lost power, trees etc., have suffered greatly. We know our responsibility to you and will not let you down. Full recovery will take some time.

The Emergency Operation Center is currently at "level two" activation. That means that it is staffed and watching the progress of Ivan. At the same time they are in contact with FEMA, the utilities and other officials currently working to help our citizens recover.

Several weeks ago we talked about FEMA reimbursement for damage to your homes, rental property and business. We also talked about reimbursement for loss of work. For more information you can check out the EOC website at levydisaster.com. You can also call FEMA at 1-800-621-FEMA.

Please remember that while the past several weeks have been absolutely terrible for many. We will continue to be available to help you. Please call us here at the Levy County Sheriff's Office or at the EOC at 486-5155.

Take care and please be safe. We will keep you up to date with Ivan.
