Letters to the Editor

This letter is more of a thank you for all the news that can be viewed via internet. As a little girl my family and I spent many summers in Cedar Key. My Grandfather Benjamin Robert Young known as Benny young was a commercial fisherman and raised my mother Mary Carolyn and her siblings there. So the things I remember like the beach we swam on which now has a Hotel, and walking down Main Street with every body knowing us as Benny`s grandchildren, which would never happen now, feeding the pelican on the docks and watching the Shrimp boats come in. I remember walking every where and now I understand there to be a taxi service which is really hard to believe. And walking to Church on Sundays up the hill pass the Fish house to the Church of Christ, which I am sure has grown by now also. If you do not know who I am talking about if I understand correctly there is a picture of my grandpa in the museum with a piece of his fishing net.I just wanted to thank you for making it possible to view a bit of my past on the Internet and watching my past grow, although it is very strange to visualize that little town being so large now, with boat rentals enabling tourists to travel to Horseshoe Island where I remember the Horseshoe crabs following us down the beach. In closing keep up the good work, and I hope that the people living there now enjoy the town as myself and my family have and have in the future fond memories of Cedar Key as I do.

Sincerely Beverly Holley
