No Gulf Trail

No Gulf Trail

Dear Editor:


The proposed Gulf Trail, starting at the intersection of Gulf Blvd. and Whiddon Ave. following Hodges Ave. and ending at the state museum, has no public support from the residents living along the proposed trail. This 8 - 12 foot wide handicapped access paved path that will take 3-4 months to complete will necessitate the removal of fences, mature trees and invite an unknown and unwelcome element into a residential neighborhood.


At no time has the public been adequately noticed or made aware of the true nature of this proposed trail. At no time did anyone from the Gulf Trail Advisory Committee ever contact me asking my opinion of such an invasive undertaking. I am left not only thinking but knowing it was intentional.


None of the active Gulf Trail Advisory Committee members live along this proposed trail.


This is not a done deal. The grant funds federal or state are not in hand. Please attend the Gulf Trail Adivsory Committee meeting on September 2nd at City Hall at 4:00pm and voice your opposition. I am completely disappointed in the city commission members` lack of oversight on this matter.
