Letters to the Editor

Letter to the Editor:

I LOVE A PARADE!!! Hi, it`s me again. A whole year has passed. Can you believe it? Come on everybody and join the PARADE! It`s not too late. Let`s prove to the outside world that Cedar Key has survived the hurricanes; we`re alive (even though many are struggling); and now we want to CELEBRATE by having a wing-ding of a Seafood Festival and Parade! Hopefully many visitors will come and spend money, not only on the great food at City Park, but in our shops, galleries, restaurants, tour operations, etc. throughout Festival weekend to help the community get back on its feet again. At the same time, hopefully the arts and crafts booths will be financially successful.

We have a great bunch of businesses here at Cedar Key who have reached down deep to provide prizes for winners of the various Parade categories. Their generosity is appreciated very much by this whole town. If we`ve missed a business who wants to provide a prize for one of the winners, please call 543-6927.

This year there is a new category for prizes---Best Sea Creature Costume. Doesn`t that sound great. SEA CREATURES will be lining up on 8th St. at the top of the hill in front of the School, near the water tower. This is the same street on which GOLF CARTS and BICYCLES will line up. No matter what category you enter---FLOATS (4th & 5th Streets), VEHICLES (East 7th St.), etc., please refer to fliers around town which provide information about the Parade. SCHOOL GROUPS will line up on H St; OTHER GROUPS will line up on West 7th St.

To participate or if questions, please call Parade Marshall at 543-6927. If possible, fill out and send in registration form located at bottom of Parade flier.

Participants will not line up on G Street as previously. They will enter their designated sections via side streets, mostly from State Road 24, and some from Whidden Ave. Everyone will hold up on side streets, which abut G Street, until 11:00 a.m. and then filter onto G Street one street at a time. Parade Guides will be present to assist where needed. SEE YOU AT THE PARADE!!! Let`s have LOTS OF FUN. P...S. I hope the WHITE PELICANS come again!
