Letter to the Voters | Letter to the VotersLetters to the Editor Dear Voters; I am Christopher Reynolds and I am asking you to support me in the election on May 2nd.I am a candidate for COMMISSIONER ofthe CEDAR KEY WATER & SEWER DISTRICT, seat number 5. I moved to Cedar Key in 1997 with my wife Linda Seyfert and our two children, Chloe and Ridley. I am a Clam Farmer and Wholesale Distributor, a member of the Cedar Key Aquaculture Association, and a former member ofthe Association`s Board of Directors. I believe I am qualified for the position I am seeking due to my education, and my background in business. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Water Resources as well as a Master of Science degree in Ground Water Hydrology. I am a candidate in this election because I have concerns about some very important issues facing Cedar Key and the citizens in the Cedar Key Water & Sewage District. Some of Cedar Key`s growing pains are evident as problems facing the Cedar Key Water & Sewage District. You have probably heard that we have carcinogens in our water supply produced through the Chlorination Process. This is a red flag issue which greatly disturbs me. This problem can be remedied through the installation of a specialized (and costly) filtration system, but that is only one of many things which need repair or replacement. Cedar Key does not have an adequate fire hydrant system. This system can be upgraded and improved easily enough, but it will take competent planning, and diligent oversight. Finally, the District has a Capital Improvement Plan to prioritize and address these problems, but the implementation of this plan concerns me. I want to see our problems solved, but I do not want to see our rates rise to ridiculous levels. The bottom line is that it is going to take money to solve our problems and I think I can help find those dollars. The Cedar Key Water & Sewer District customers may not be the only source of funding to achieve the goals identified through the Capital Improvement Plan. If elected, my stance on the funding of the necessary improvements to the District`s infrastructure, will be one of exploring every alternative. As Cedar Key Water District Customers, don`t you want to know every alternative before you open your checkbooks? Presently I don`t know all the problems facing the Water Board, nor can I offer solutions yet. However, if you elect me, I will approach these problems proactively with the best interests of the City of Cedar Key, and the Cedar Key Water & Sewer District`s customers at heart. Please come out and vote on May 2nd! Thank You! Chris Reynolds |
