The brush fire on Hodgson Avenue(4 lots from my home) began intentionally to clear brush beside a house. It was "extinguished" that day but, came back to life on Friday afternoon the 12th June. Kathy and Mike Day may have saved two homes with their quick action. Why was this neighbor so careless and negligent with fire? It seems that this was part of an ongoing project to clear marshgrasses, palmettos, and other vegetation on his property. Fiddler crab burrows which showed under the burned vegetation are under under water at high tide. I do not see how the condition of this property meets code. Destroying marshland is one thing that is usually overlooked in this city. But FIRE CODE and fire safety must be strictly enforced for all. Especially here, where one neighbor did not seem to care about the property rights and safety of his neighbors. I was under the impression that a burn pit or barrel was required to burn trash or vegetation. No one should have to tell an adult that it is not safe to start a fire in a residential area.
