Help keep Cedar Key`s kitties alive and healthy!

Due to a complaint by a neighbor, we have recently been issued a citation by the City of Cedar Key under the "Nuisance Animals" section of the Laws of Cedar Key.

2.07.04.B.4.
Allowing or permitting an animal to be kept in an unsanitary place or area. The term "unsanitary" shall mean any condition which may harbor, produce, or be a breeding place for any disease, or carrier thereof, or which causes or exudes odors that are offensive to any person or persons constituting the general public.

Those of you who have visited us know that the above statement is not indicative of how we maintain our property. Most of you can probably think of several places around the island that would fit this description. As always, everyone is welcome and we encourage you to come and see for yourselves. Make your own decision. We have nothing to hide. Call us at 543-8083 to arrange a time.

We have been inspected twice by the Levy County Health Department due to a complaint by the same neighbor. The inspector noted in his first visit that this was not what he expected to find, and had seen much worse conditions where there were just a few animals. We are continuing to utilize suggestions made by the inspector for reducing the number of houseflies in the area and have made significant progress in the past month. The disposal of solid waste also has been resolved to his satisfaction.

We will be contesting the City citation in Levy County Court and have hired an attorney to represent us. Please help the feral cat program stay alive by donating to our legal fund. Collection cups will be placed around town. Donations by check can be made out to Terry Tataru PA. Feel free to contact us directly for more information at 543-8083.
