The Cedar Key Area Chamber of Commerce held a general membership meeting February 23. Members were treated to a lecture on preparation of a business plan as they partook of hors d'oeuvers and other refreshments. The business meeting included presentation of the 2006 budget, discussion of a proposed "biker's event", and election of officers and Directors for 2006.

Michael Jones, Executive Director of the Nature Coast Business Development Council, gave a concise lecture on the reasons for and components of a business plan. He then answered questions about the services provided by his organization.

Paul Rimavicus spoke of the need for more events that would bring more visitors to Cedar Key. The proposal of a biker's event drew multiple expressions of doubt from Chamber members. The issue was deferred to a later meeting.

The 2006 election of officers and Directors resulted in Janet Blackwell as incoming President; Vice President, Denise Bierworth; Treasurer, Doris Hellermann; Secretary, Kathy Carver; and Directors, Nancy Langton-Christians, Paul Rimavicus, and Rose Cantwell.

Special thanks go to Chef Peter Stefani, of the Island Room, and Nature Coast Realty for preparing and donating the hours d`oeurves and refreshments for the Chamber of Commerce meetiong.
