Cedar Key Arts Show Opens April 8

Cedar Key Arts Show Opens April 8

Jim Hoy

The spring art show entitled "Celebration of the Arts in Cedar Key" opened a two day run Saturday, April 8. One hundred thirty-one artists displaying pieces from fine fish rubbings to precise bronze sculpture to dazzling acrylics drew a crowd of admirerers. Prize winners will be announced at an artists' reception Saturday evening.

Fish rubbing art, an unusual technique.

Each artist will be judged on the basis of their body of work, rather than the brilliance of any one piece. Therefore artists will be displaying ribbons for show prizes such as "best in show" starting Sunday morning. Purchase awards for individual pieces go to the artists, and the donor of the purchase award claims the piece. In many cases purchasers agree to leave their purchases on display throughout the show.

Fine art will be on display along Second Street until 5:00 PM Sunday. Food and music in Cedar Key`s City Park will available well into Sunday afternoon as well.
