Cedar Key Arts Show Has Many Winners

Many artists took home prizes from Cedar Key's "Celebration of the Arts" show held April 8 and 9. One hundred thirty-one artists competed for awards and cash prizes totaling $18,000. The Best in Show award was shared by two painters who tied for first. Both painters, Britta Jepson, of Key Largo, Florida and Ellen Marshall, of Ybor City, Florida were given ribbons and $1,000 each.

Best 2-D Art and $1,000 was awarded to Chuck Huddleston of Deland, Florida.

Best 3-D Art entry and $1,000 went to Jean Yao for her basketry. Yao also was given a purchase award by Cedar Key Historic Renovation.

Awards of Excellence and $500 went to each of ten artists for work in a variety of categories. They were: Bill Sargent, photography; Jacquilyn Collett, glass; Craig Brabson, photography; Judi Wood, beading; Linda Molto, serigraphy; Alexis Barbeau, jewelry; Jim Crawford, bronze; Leroy Taylor, wood; Kevin Hipe, mosaic; Iris and Rick Austin, jewelry; Susan Dauphinee, painting; Pavel Mik, sculpture.
