Dock Repair Update

Jim Hoy

Structural engineering plans for reconstruction of the Cedar Key "Big Dock" continue to be revised. A spokesman for the Levy County Parks Department said November 8 that final plans may be ready within two or three weeks. The next step is bidding by construction companies.

The spokesman said that the concrete delivery trucks will need to approach the dock site from the east on Dock Street because of the poor condition of the C Street Bridge. Trucks, once empty, will then be able to depart safely over the bridge. Repair of the C Street Bridge is not currently planned.

The dock reconstruction project started in September of 2004.
