Rescue 75 Makes Debut

City officials celebrate truck arrival. Left to right are: Asst. Fire Chief Robert Robinson, Commissioners Vanessa Edmunds and Sue Colson, Fire Chief James McCain, CRA Dir. Jackie Gorman and Mayor Paul Oliver.

Rescue 75 made its debut at City Hall February 6. Cedar Key Volunteer Fire Department took delivery of the multipurpose truck and brought it out for display just before the City Commission met. Purchased from a North Carolina firm for $146,000, the truck is particularly suited for rescue following vehicle collisions. It carries the "jaws-of life," breathing equipment and two sets of hoses for fighting fires according to Fire Chief James McCain. The unit can also be used for fighting brush fires. Community Redevelopment Agency funds were used for the purchase.
