Clamerica and Fireworks Planned

Clamerica and Fireworks Planned

Jim Hoy

Clamerica, Cedar Key's annual clam festival, held on Independence Day will have shade facilities during the day and fireworks after dark. The City Park facilities will not be fully available for the festival due to construction activities. Therefore, the City CRA Board voted May 15 to rent a 40 X 60 foot tent to provide shade for festival visitors. The rental cost will be $1800.

Funding for the evening fireworks display has been allocated in advance in the City budget, thereby avoiding funding uncertainties of past years. With multiple events scheduled for Clamerica, and the traditional Cedar Key fireworks, a large influx of visitors is anticipated for July 4, 2007.
