Vandals at Anchor Hole

Jim Hoy

Damaged fence at the Anchor Cove real estate development.

Vandals struck a two locations near the corner of Gulf Blvd. and Hodges Ave. sometime the evening of October 21. Three sections of the wooden fence at the Anchor Hole Parking Lot on Hodges Ave. were destroyed. Two sections of the fence along the Anchor Cove development on Gulf Blvd. were driven through as well.

Three missing sections of fance at the Anchor Hole Parking Lot.

Tire tracks at the Gulf Blvd. site indicated that the vehicle first drove though the fence and then backed though a second section of the fence. Cedar Key Police Chief Bubba Castell said that there may be a reward for information about the incident. This is the third case of vandalism in the Anchor Hole vicinity in the past few months. The recent case has occurred less than one month after the dedication of the Anchor Hole Parking Lot which is dedicated to use by clammers.

Distinctive tire tracks presumably left by the vehicle that destroyed the fence on Gulf Blvd.

Editor`s Note: The Cedar Key Aquaculture Association has offered a $500 reward to information leading to the arrest of person or persons responsible for the vandalism at the Anchor Hole Parking Lot, and a $500 reward in addition if there is a conviction.
