Special Pies at Special Auction

Special Pies at Special Auction

Jim Hoy

Seventy-two pies and cakes were sold at auction at the Cedar Key School March 20. The proceeds go toward the new playground equipment in the fitness center of the school. Bidding under the advice and guidance of Buz Healy was very competitive. By evening's end $2078 was raised according to Cashier DeAnne Watson. The most spirited action resulted in Italian Wedding cake baked by Linda Telgen going to high-bidder Sally Beveridge at $85.

Preschoolers Riley Smith (l.) and Cloe Johns judged an apple pie before bidding began.

Midway through the evening a spectacular quilt made by Beth Davis was auctioned off. The high bidder was Kathy Cooper of Hawthorne, FL.
