Nancie Katherine Dale

Obituary

Nancie Dale passed away peacefully May 10th, 2008. The funeral was held May 20th in Worthing, England. Survivors include Colin and Linda Dale, grandsons Peter Dale, and Patrick and Helen Dale, two great-grandsons and three great-grandaughters.

Nancie was 91 years old. Her life took her through World War II when she had the sole responsibility for bringing up her only offspring, Colin, as her husband Eric was away with the Royal Air Force for many years. One night as they were at the movies the sirens were sounded and they had to leave. Colin was very cross for having to leave the movie and when they reached home Nancie made him cheese and tomatoes on toast which cheered him up and has remained a favorite ever since. Mother and son grew very close during this time. In the many diaries she kept in almost every entry there is a mention of Colin.

Eric died in 1989 and shortly afterwards Nancie left England for the first time. She flew to Florida to visit Colin and Linda in Cedar Key where she made many friends. She was happy being near the water, watching the birds and greeting her friends every day as she made her rounds of the post office and the market. She returned to Cedar Key each winter until her health declined.

Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer`s Society.
