Myra Castell, 83, passed away on August 26, 2008. Myra was born on November 22, 1924 in Tampa, Florida. She was a lifelong resident of Cedar Key and a graduate of Cedar Key High School. Myra and her husband Vernon celebrated their 63rd Anniversary in April of this year. Myra is survived by her husband Vernon Castell of Cedar Key, her daughter, LaVerne Bell of Chiefland, her son Douglas and his wife Wanda Castell of Inglis, four grandsons, Michael Bell and Ryan Bell both of Chiefland, Douglas Castell and Raymond Castell both of Inglis, eight great-grandchildren, two sisters Susie Day and Wilma Holman both of Chiefland, and one brother Tyler Coburn of Gainesville. Myra was a member of "the greatest generation" and touched many lives. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her independence and zest for life will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have had her in their lives. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 29, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home in Chiefland. Services to celebrate Myra`s life will be held Saturday, August 30, 2008, 10:00 a.m. in Christ Church, Cedar Key.
