Ruth Berry Kimbrell Linton 1906-2009

Ruth Berry Kimbrell Linton left this life on Monday, April 6, 2009 in Gainesville, Florida where she had been residing for the last three years. She was 102. Mrs. Linton, known as Ruthie to those who loved her, was born in a log cabin in Berry, AL on July 13th, 1906. She spent her youth in Fayette, AL and graduated from high school there. Her father was the Sheriff of Fayette County. She grew up with three brothers and after high school, she married a railroad man, Henry Purser Kimbrell and traveled with him to North Florida area where they settled in Quitman, Ga. Ruthie worked as a druggist assistant in for many years in Terry`s Drug Store in Quitman. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband Henry Purser Kimbrell; her second husband Ed Linton; her son Percy Eugene Kimbrell and two grandsons, Percy Eugene Kimbrell Jr and Mark Ehrbar. She is survived by her beloved friend and true companion, Fluffy; one daughter, Elizabeth Kimbrell Ehrbar of Cedar Keys; her daughter in law Peggy Kimbrell of Cordele, Ga.; three grand daughters, Enid Ruth Ehrbar and Lisa Anne Ehrbar of Gainesville, FL and Melissa Harvey Gordon of Cordele, GA; three grandsons, Henry Wade Kimbrell and Jay Lyle Kimbrell of Virginia and Mike Harvey or Orlando, FL; nine great-grand children and four great-great grandchildren. Special thanks and heartfelt appreciation extended to her wonderful friends and caregivers Russell and Laura Trippensee and Barbara Salyers of Gainesville, FL. Ruthie will be buried in the Kimbrell family plot in Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman Georgia. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 9th at 1:00 PM with Maxwell-Miller Funeral Home officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alachua County Humane Society in Gainesville, FL at 2029 NW 6th Street, 32609. |
