Obituary

Arline Woods Healy of Cedar Key died at the Haven Hospice facility in Chiefland on October 28, 2010, as a result of several debilitating illnesses. She was 95, born in Bangor, Maine on November 9, 1914.

Arline and her husband, Richard, moved to Cedar Key upon Richard`s retirement from the Army in 1970. She remained in Cedar Key after his death in 1974. Arline was a part of the "Greatest Generation," the part that remained in the US raising their children while their husbands were half a world away at war. After WWII, she moved her family from Army postings across this country and in two foreign countries over a 26 year period, nurturing her children while instilling in them life`s essential moral values.

Arline was active in the Cedar Key Woman`s Club for several years. She is survived by her daughter, Carol, of Cedar Key, her primary care provider for the past decade, and her sons, Richard (Dick), of Mechanicsville, Virginia, Maurice (Buzz), of Cedar Key, and James (Jim) of Sanford, North Carolina. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the United Methodist Church in Cedar Key at 11 a.m. on November 6, 2010. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Arline`s name be made to the Haven Hospice facility of Chiefland (311 NE 9th St., Chiefland, FL 32626).
