Nicholas G. Ruffing

Obituary

Nicholas G. Ruffing of Trenton went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 27th. He passed peacefully while sleeping.

Mr. Ruffing was born to Nicholas Rugging and Marcella Rhinehardt on Feb. 21, 1933 in Bethlehem, PA and grew up in Elrama, PA He served his country in the US Marine Corp during the Korean War and has been active with the American Legion. He spent his employed years as a foreman with United States Steel and eventually retired to Florida. He has been residing in Trenton for the past 10 years. Mr. Ruffing served with American Legion Post 91, James Scheffield as Adjutant. Nick is active in his own community and also attends the Old Town United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Rose in Jan. of 2011.

He is survived by his three beloved daughter, Deborah (Laurence) Roloson of NY, Kathleen Olsen of NC, and Donna Ruffing, with whom he resided with; two sons, Dennis Ruffing and Shawne Ruffing, both of NC, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren include; Phillip (Lisa) James with great granddaughters Calli and Sadi; Brian (Caroline) Roloson and great grandchildren Philip, Christopher, Brody, Lila and Ashley; Jessica Davis with great granddaughters Jordan and Jalynn Davis; Christina (David) Vinsick; Nicole (Robert) Bishop and great grandchildren Garrett, Avery and Emily; Erica Olsen; Samantha and Deborah Lee Ruffing; his sister. Stella Dunbar of Finelyville, PA, a beloved nephew Paul Biles of Elrama, PA, countless nieces and nephews and great nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving Nicholas is his best friend since grade school, John Majiske.

Funeral services will be Thurs. Sept 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Service with Rev. Carl Rainear officiating. Visitation will be Wed., August 31, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be Friday, Sept 2, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
