James Duke Brown

Obituary

April 20, 1946- December 22, 2011

James Duke Brown, 65, owner and operator of J&B Satellite, Inc., Born April 20, 1946. Jim left this earth to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 22, 2011.

Jim was the most amazing man; husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend! He was a giving, honest, fun-loving, caring, sweet, generous man. He had ethics that were stupendous. When he gave his word, he lived up to it. When he said he would do something, he did it. If something needed to be done, he did it. He loved Jesus, his church, his family and his friends. He gave four years to serving his country in the Air Force, but he gave a lifetime for the love of his country.

He would do things to help folks without them knowing who had done it, he`d help anyone who needed it-even strangers, and he was so admirable that no matter what was needed or who needed it- he`d help! He wasn`t a materialist man, but he made sure that things that were needed were obtained. No matter where he went, there was someone that he knew.

He loved his 8 cats and his sweet dog Annie. He loved Gator Football, being with family and friends and he especially loved riding his Honda Shadow Trike.

He is survived by his wife of 355 glorious days; Gail Brown, his children; Robert Marsh (Dawn), Mike Marsh, Michelle Ruby (Mike), Samantha VelDink, his grandchildren; Glynn Marsh, Jessica Ruby, Emily, Hannah, and Sarah Ruby, Ryan and Melissa Hausner, his great grandson; Clark Hausner, his parents-in law; Robert and Helen Poupard, his brothers and sisters-in-law; Mark and Evelyn Poupard, Tom and Sandy Poupard, many nieces and nephews and so many friends who were his extended family.

He was preceded in death by his second wife; Shirley Brown, his mother; Mary Kennard and his step father; George Kennard, his sister and two brothers; Doug and Jack Brown.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on Monday, December 26, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Knauff Funeral Home in Williston. Funeral Services will be held at the Bronson Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 11:00 am with Pastors Eddie Johnson and Jim Waldron officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be sent to the Bronson Church of God (PO Box 909 Bronson, Fl. 32621) or the Gulf Hammock Church of God (PO Box 357 Gulf Hammock, Fl. 32639).

Arrangements are under the direction of Knauff Funeral Home in Williston (352)528-3481.
