Winnelle Frances Horne

Obituary

Winnelle Frances Horne, passed at age 87 peacefully to be with the Lord, on Monday January 30th, 2012.

Anyone who knew Winnelle "Grandma," knew she had a passion for quilting, always welcomed any visitor to her beloved quilt museum and had a love for the Lord. She was an active member of the Chiefland Women`s club, the Curryville Homemakers, Founder and Director of Levy County Quilt museum and director of the Log Cabin Quilters.

Frances Winnelle Mercer Horne, the only daughter and youngest child of James Dillard Mercer and Frances Folsom (Horne) Mercer, was born on November 6, 1924, in Levy County Florida. The family lived across the road from where the quilt museum is today.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee Horne; four of her children, John Randolph Chapman, George Robert Chapman, Frances Ruth Chapman and Gerald Randolph Wall; three brothers, James L. Engle Mercer (Chris), Willis Murray Mercer (Bert) and James D. Mercer.

She is survived by her son, Alton Reginald Chapman (Reggie) and wife Gale; her 9 grandchildren, 17 great- grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.


By her request, in lieu of flowers, Donations may be sent to the Levy County Quilt Museum: 11050 NW 10th Ave. Chiefland, Florida 32626.

A public visitation will be held at the Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home, Chiefland, FL on Friday February 3rd from 5pm - 7pm.


A funeral service will be held at the Levy County Quilt Museum, 11050 NW 10th Ave. Chiefland, FL Saturday February 4th at 11am.
