Leo McLeon Castell

Obituary

Leo McLeon Castell, 85, of Chiefland, Florida, passed away on March 22, 2012 at his home. Mr. Castell was born on December 20, 1926 in Cedar Key, Florida to Charles and Jannie (Robinson) Castell Sr. He moved to Chiefland in 1959 from Cedar Key.


Mr. Castell was of Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Cedar Key. He served in the Navy and the Army Air Corps and was in the reserves during Vietnam and was a veteran of World War II and Korea. He retired from the Department of Corrections as an Administrative Lieutenant. Mr. Castell was a past president of the Suwannee River Shrine Club, a master mason with Lake Butler Lodge #52 F&A.M.

He enjoyed fishing, was an avid outdoorsman, liked dabbling in automotive repair and painting and was a "jack of all trades, master of some".

Mr. Castell is survived by sons; Thomas Castell (Mary) and George Castell (Audrey), brothers; Vernon Castell, C.W. "Bubba" Castell, Hallie B. Castell, and John Castell, 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by sons; William Leo Castell and Jerry Lee Castell, brother; Morris Castell, sisters; Syble Castell and Lorena "Sissy" Jones.

A Celebration of Life was held all day long on March 25, 2012 at Thomas Castell`s home, 13151 NW 50th Ave., Chiefland, Florida.


A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of Knauff Funeral Home, Chiefland.
