Gene Malinowski, 77, of Cedar Key passed away on June 4, 2012 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Gainesville. He was born in Detroit, MI on Feb. 13, 1935 to the late Frank & Angeline (Solek) Malinowski. He was living in Mansfield OH in 2005 when he moved to Cedar Key, FL. Gene attended St. Johns the Evangelist Catholic Church in Chiefland, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was an engineering professor at The Ohio State University. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, sailing, art, photography and loved old cars. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 55 years, Rose Malinowski of Cedar Key; son and daughter in law Gary & Cynthia Malinowski of Golden Valley, MN; daughter and her fiance, Susan Malinowski & Mario Bellizzi of Big Surf, CA; daughter Cynthia Kroll of Henderson, NV; son David Malinowski of Cedar Key; son & daughter in law, Kevin & Mardi Malinowski of Avon, OH, daughter & son in law Judith & Garrett McQuillen of McMurry, PA; brothers Dr. Robert (Mary) Malinowski of Jefferson, OH, Leonard (and his late wife Mary) Malinowski of Fredericksburg, VA; his sister Christine (Bob) Neelis of Denver, CO; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Services will be Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Johns the Evangelist Catholic Church in Chiefland with Father Joe McDonnell officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mr. Malinowski`s memory to the Knights of Columbus or to The St. Johns the Evangelist Catholic Church in Chiefland.
