Despite a late start at planning (after the Annual Spook House on Second Street was cancelled) local residents and shops didn`t lose their spirit. Led by Michelle Pearson, family, friends and local churches, they aquired a band to play music(Featuring "Officer Robbie" of the Cedar Key Police Department), cooked 200 hot dogs and associated goodies and developed games for youngsters to enjoy at City Park last Tuesday night.

Band

Based on ticket counts, there were about 150 children, plus their families. Danny Shipp pulled a "boat train" full of ecstatic kids around the park with his tractor and others played games and tried to win free prizes. Of course, everyone was a winner and enjoyed free candy. Some was even personally delivered to one little princess who was being wheeled around in a pink stroller.

Shops on Second Street handed out candy and the Colson Clan had their annual carved pumpkin display on the benches in front of City Hall. There was even a trio of good witches sitting on a bench outside the Island Hotel distributing sweets to awestruck youngsters.

Most of the street was closed off and Officer Dave Perry had the goulish job of handing out candy to some scary looking creatures, as well as beautiful fairies and even an Elmo look-alike.

Miss Jannie Williams, who lives next door to the Island Hotel, handed out candy in her pumpkin-themed front yard and didn`t seem at all phased when a ghostly apparition walked up, got some candy and flitted away.
